-Will update once I can find the journal which explained the series best-

I've been planning out the story of said manga for years, but I'm slightly apprehensive about beginning to draw it, as I am not very confident in my ability to draw things consistently. If anyone has any advice for me, I would appreciate it greatly.

Just start drawing it and keep on drawing it. Drawing, like any other skill improves the more you use it.

Cool sounding title! I wonder if it's gonna be about the kata or the litteral phase of the moon.

my advice: Go for it! :D

Everything will inevitably seem weird in the beginning, but you'll get the hang of it. Just don't stop trying new things until you like what you see. That's all I do anyway @_@

Well I got my inspiration for the name from Hangetsu (as in the moon phase) a few years ago while looking at the Shorin-Ryu kata Seisan (Literally: "Thirteen".), which is also called Hangetsu in Shotokan (as I would later find out) at night under a half moon (What a coincidence, no?). I was intrigued about the kata, and did more research on it, and I myself was stricken by the strange occurence. I realized that this was probably some sort of sign rather than a simple coincidence, and started sketching out the logo.

It isn't about the kata so much as the moon phase, (Seeing as I started writing the plot long before the aforementioned night.) but characters have names, and character specific inside jokes based off of kata.

(For example: The main female lead is named Meikyo. A common inside joke is for her to be called Rohai (The Shorin-Ryu equivalent of Meikyo) by people who know her well, much to her irritation. Other characters are given titles such as Kiba of the Iron Horse (Tekki no Kiba) or Haku: The Crane atop a Rock (Gankaku Haku))

(The reason for all the Japanese is because it is definitely my favorite language. Even over English.)

:D This sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to see it! I bet you'll get all types of karateka readers.
